Putting Female Empowerment In The Focus

First Rising Pineapples Conference took place in Berlin

Berlin, March 9, 2019 - Rising Pineapples - a recently founded initiative to empower women through lived experiences - held its first conference on March 8 in Berlin. 130 participants joined the first conference on International Women’s Day to empower women.

The initiative was founded earlier this year by Delphine Mousseau, an e-commerce expert who worked in the digital industry for more than 20 years in companies like Boston Consulting Group, Tommy Hilfiger and Zalando.

Convinced that women benefit from connecting with and learning from one another, she started Rising Pineapples with a team of volunteers who believe in the same goals. Together they built the initiative on three key pillars: Women can ‘Inspire’ one another by their lived experiences, their passion and their personal “moment of truth” where they found their true value, a deep sense of purpose and hence, experienced a change in focus and a new definition of success. A second goal is to ‘Equip’ women with the right set of tools to raise their self-awareness for their own power and capabilities. ‘Connecting’ women by engaging, sharing knowledge, positive and negative experiences, building bonds and networks within the Rising Pineapple community is the third main goal of the initiative.

“My team and I could not be more happy about our new initiative. Within only three and a half weeks, we organized our first conference and are grateful that so many women entrusted us with their time and dared to share their unique stories with us and each other. The power of that you get when connecting women could be felt in the room! So energizing! There will definitely be a second edition next year!”, said Delphine Mousseau after the event.

The Power Talks and workshops were held by 16 women with different backgrounds and expertise: Sabine Devins spoke about the different representation of women in workforce and politics, Marie-Amélie Chereau about the gender pay gap. Amia Abiodun focused on the importance of body positivity. Christine Zeller, founder of the first period underwear, shared her learnings on the taboo of periods. Emily La Blanca shed light on Berlin’s sex industry and the situation for the sex workers. During the afternoon, participants chose two workshops and listened to inspirational success stories.

The conference took place at “The Family” incubator in Berlin. This fellowship of founders which helps entrepreneurs building up their startups also sponsored the event as well as Zalando and Flaconi. The cosmetic brand Banana and the food and beverage company Cacao supported the event with free samples of their products.
